While rummaging through some drawers tonight I stumbled across this card. And well it was a sad reminder that 4 years and 4 days ago tonight The Mighty Steve Casmano left this place for the Last time.

Steve wore many Hats (literally and figuratively) He was a Machinist, Musician, Rock Star, Custom Frame builder/Painter, Bike Rider, Car Guy, Father and a Friend. He had a way with words that would make your head spin. And love him or hate him there was never a dull moment when Casmano was around.

I have an old answering machine stowed away in the closet it contains 11 messages and one of them is the last I received from Steve. It’s around 3 minutes long full of curse words, and Casmano-isms, and it always puts a smile on my Face. He concluded that Message with the title of tonight’s Post.

Busy Bike Builder Makes For Piss Poor Blogger.

Hello All, Been a while since I have turned on the Big Computer. So I thought I would reach out and let the 3 or so people who might read this blog know whats been going on at Tonic Fab.
First off, we have a fun custom 29er Project contracted by Dan. Dan wanted a Barnstormer 29er built the way he wanted, Short as can be short C/S’s, 69 Head angle, ECBB, cable routing for a RS Reverb and room for a Ginormous back tire.

I think we nailed it.

Next up we have Dave’s Custom Barnstormer 26, Horizontal D/O’s, ISCG, and a one off 49 49 Headtube, equipped with an Angle set.

That’s all I have for computer time this Rainy Sunday. Next time I will have some pictures and info on the Magnum CX’s I have been working on as well as a few other special projects. So on that note I will leave you with this preview of the movie I watched last night.

Flame throwers, Muscle cars, Booze, Mad Max references and some Romance. Awesome!

Built up, Off Roaded, Road Raced, packed up in a truck called “TEXAS” and in route to the ‘Crusher’ in the Tushar Mountains of Utah.
Crush or Crushed, Toddman and his new Tonic Fab are sure to have some quality time together.

Bikes are going out the Big Green door, the Sun is out in Portland and all is well.
Tonic recently had the opportunity to build a Custom frame and fork for Friend of 25+ years, former Professional road racer, shop mate and all around swell guy Todd Littlehales. Todd and his new Tonic will be heading down to Utah for the inaugural ‘Crusher in the Tushar’. A 79 mile Road + Dirt race in the Tushar mountains. The Crusher is a choose your weapon, kind of event. So after hours of grueling analysis of the course, a few 16oz. coffee’s and a couple of big peanut butter cookies we decided to go with what we can only call the MTBRD (or maybe the Magnum R/T). The tires will be large, the rear end will be short, and the brakes will work in any of the conditions the Crusher has to offer. The rest will be left up to the Mountain Gods and fate itself.
Drawings were made, Tubes were mitered and the 58 FATSO was ready for assembly.

More Vanishing point / Circulus

One more Tonic Vanishing point finds it’s way to the inter web. This time thanks to Teisuke , this is a 53cm level T/T, Standard head tube Vanishing point with a super nice build.

PDW had a little open house of sort’s the other day. And as expected a good time was had by all. Beers were drunk, Circulus was circled, and obscenities were screamed through mega phones.
Such a good was time was had Guys and Gals broke out in dance, in the womb of the Mother ship. The guys at PDW know how to provoke some get loose-dum.

The Mighty P funk was in attendance and did his part as event Security and maintenance man.

Eric of bike Beautifying fame, learned the hard way that riding kids bikes in circles can lead to Satanic possession (Fortunately,he is expected to make a full recovery) Until next time..

As a guy who has spent a lot of time Drawing, when I should have been learning, listening or working. My hat is off to SHOHEI for doing some amazing stuff with a ball point pen. Hit up the Google translate and check out his site. It will not disappoint.

In other news from that Island that made Plaid so popular. Tonic’s main man in Japan, and soon to be proud owner of his third 700c Tonic Fab. Teisuke Morimoto checked in and sent a photo of his Land Rover with 2 Tonic’s in tow. I think it is safe to say, that Teisuke is doing OK.
